Thank you to everyone who has applied and donated money to help Ivanka! Her surgery has been paid for and she has found a forever home! She will be in rescue for a number of weeks while recovering. If you would like to help her consider donating some crate chew treats to keep her busy but quiet.  Ivanka's story....this little girl had a broken femur, needing emergency surgery and her owner decided he no longer wanted her with the injury. She is 17 weeks old. Her owner bought her from another country and was to be used as a guard dog. Her owner was going to start training schutzhund training but with the broken leg, he felt loosing 8 weeks was not going to work. He had no desire for a pet and worried "that's all she's going to be". Thankfully the vet called us as he saw hope andlife in this little girl. She needed surgery immediately as she was in so much pain she was biting everyone who touched her. We at UDR could not turn away from this sweet young Doberman. Euthanizing her was an option but thankfully with the Vets request, the owner surrendered her to UDR.  The vet felt she would have a happy healthy life if her leg was fixed. Without hesitation we took her into our rescue and the rest is history. Ivanka was able to have surgery the same day and is now home and being kept quite. Her pain is under control. All potential adopters must fill out  the adoption application. Please read our adoption policies page in its entirety before filling out application-failure to do so may delay the adoption process. Please answer all questions on the application, failure to do so may result in your application being denied. We do not adopt on a first come first serve basis but what is the best fit for our dogs.  We do give preference to homes with fenced yards. Puppies must live in homes with fenced yards. Those with no fencing must have a plan in place for daily activity and bathroom breaks for adult dogs. With the exception of Meet and Greets, y ou will not be able to meet our adoptable animals until the adoption application is submitted online and the home visit is completed. We will not place adult rescue dogs in homes with young children under 6 years old, with the exception of puppies 6 months and under, we will adopt to families with children under 6 years old, but a fenced yard is mandatory. Our dogs must live indoors with their humans and never left outdoors alone or in a kennel or yard unattended. You must be willing to use a crate and sign up for formal obedience classes. You must be 21 and own your home. We will not adopt outside of the USA. We will not ship our dogs. We will not adopt to anyone charged or convicted of animal abuse, child abuse, any type of felony.
